  • When considering the traffic that is coming in and out of your home on moving day, you can cause some serious damage if you’re not careful. There are several ways to protect your home and your belongings in order to prevent moving damage, with little preparation. All My Sons movers in Upper Arlington are here to share a few quick ways to prevent damage when moving.

To protect the floors, cover any areas that have heavy moving traffic. You can purchase non-slip plastic sheeting or you can simply flatten out cardboard boxes and put them on the floor near walkways. Movers in Upper Arlington suggest keeping cleaning products handy just in case you need to use them.

To protect the walls, you can also flatten out cardboard and hang it with painter’s tape. You can also purchase corner-pieces of cardboard to put on sharp corners of furniture to prevent moving damage to not only the walls, but the furniture as well.

To protect fragile items, contract help from movers in Upper Arlington, and make sure all fragile items are wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap.

To protect china from the kitchen, use china boxes that are double-layered. Movers in Upper Arlington suggest packing heaviest items on the bottom, and light items on the top. They should all be packed as they would inside of a cabinet.

When moving, it is important to make sure you pack and unpack very carefully. All My Sons movers in Upper Arlington know you may feel anxious and excited to get from your old house to your new one, but take your time and use caution to prevent moving damage.

Relocating from one home to another can be stressful, as it takes time, money, and effort. To make your move a bit easier, All My Sons Moving & Storage of Chicago is here to share a few of the top moving mistakes and how to avoid them.

Failing to Purge. Take moving as an opportunity to get rid of all of the stuff you no longer want or need. There is no sense in packing and moving things if they do not serve you any use anymore.

Cheap Moving Boxes. Of course, it is a smart, budget-saving idea to get used boxes, especially if they are free from your local businesses. However, attempting to use weak, dirty boxes can cause your more problems in the long run. Do not go cheap on moving supplies, like tape and bubble wrap, either. You do not want your belongings falling out of boxes in transit.

Forgetting to Properly Label Boxes. The Chicago moving company says one of the top moving mistakes people make is when they vaguely label boxes, or label them improperly. Make sure you write the contents on at least two sides; however, we suggest writing on all four.

Procrastinating. Moving requires plenty of planning. If you know you are an avid procrastinator, get started as early as possible. Use a checklist to help guide the way in order to avoid this moving mistake. If you know you are moving during a busy time of the year, such as spring or summer, make sure you are proactive about your moving date as well. Contact your Chicago moving company in advance.

Spring is a great time to sell your home because summer is around the corner! Athens movers have learned that the summer is the busiest time of the year for home sellers, home buyers and Athens moving companies.

But in order to sell your home, you need to make sure that it looks good. The Athens movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage have seen lots of home for sale and we have some recommendations to make your lawn look good enough to sell your home.

    1. Plants

Use the perfect spring time weather to break out your green thumb. Local markets will be selling potted plants and seeds again, so pick up some bright colored flowers and get to work.

Be sure to plant flowers symmetrically and neatly on your front lawn. That first impression is the best way to ensure you sell your home. You’ll have to leave those plants behind when your Athens movers arrive, but take that green thumb with you and plant more when you arrive at your new home!

    1. Paint

Take advantage of this great weather and paint the front of your home. If you cannot paint the house entirely, paint the front door and window awning instead. Pick an accent color and make sure it’s bright and vibrant. The brighter your home looks the greater your chances are of selling your home.

    1. Lighting

Installing outdoor lighting fixtures is a great way to boost the value and get more money when you sell your home. First impressions are so important and the look and feel of a well-lit front lawn will definitely increase your home’s value.

You can use the extra money you make to hire full service Athens movers and save yourself the hassle of moving after you sell your home!

There’s nothing worse than moving to Hilton Head, settling into your new home and getting a whiff of stale smoke from the previous residents. The smell of smoke can permeate your home’s surfaces and linger months after the past occupants removed their things with help from their Hilton Head movers. Let us here at All My Sons of Hilton Head help you navigate this stinky situation. Here are the five best methods to help get the odor of cigarette smoke out of your new place.

    1. Sprinkle Baking Soda on the Carpet

Most vacant homes or apartments don’t have problems with a smoke smell from the furniture, but the carpet may be holding on to the odor. We recommend sprinkling generous amounts of baking soda throughout the carpet and letting it sit for a while before vacuuming it up.

    1. Scrub Walls With Vinegar

Next, you’ve got to address the smoke residue left behind on the walls. A simple solution is to scrub the walls with a vinegar and water solution to eliminate this problem immediately.

    1. Try an Air Purifier System

If you still sense a smell of smoke in the air after cleaning the carpet and walls, the next thing to try is investing in an air purifying system or filter. You can easily find these simple appliances at most department stores or online.

    1. Paint the Walls

Sometimes, the smell of smoke is even tougher to get out of the walls than you anticipated. A fresh coat of paint or wallpaper may be able to help diminish the stinky odor quickly.

    1. Replace the Flooring

Likewise, an old carpet that has experienced years of abuse from cigarette smoke may not be able to be completely smoke free. Instead, you can try replacing the carpets with a brand new style or choose an updated hardwood look for your home.

When you need assistance with your move, we can help provide advice and tips about topics that go beyond packing and moving furniture around. Find out more about what we offer by checking out our services page today.

Schools out but work isn’t. Most parents find themselves in the same predicament every year. What to do with kids during their spring break week? The San Antonio movers of All My Sons have put together a list of 7 great activities for kids during their spring break.

    Camps

Camps are great options for children during spring break. They get to continue playing with friends and are constantly stimulated with fun activities organized by the camp. Best of all, you can usually find a camp that will watch them for most of the day. Cibolo Nature Center and Farm Outdoor Adventure is great for kids between the ages of 5 and 12. It lasts for 3 days and will teach kids to fish, make smores, and look for wildlife. Spring Break Archaeology Camp at UTSA’s Center for Archaeological Research is a great way for your kids to spend their spring break in San Antonio this year. They offer exploration of mummies and ancient art for kids between 9 and 13 years.

    Outdoor Activities for Kids

Although these activities require adult supervision, for those parents who take a few days off work, the San Antonio movers highly recommend taking a quick trip to enjoy the various outdoor activities San Antonio has to offer.

Stars and Stripes Drive-in Theater is hosting a special Beauty and the Beast event weekend starting on Friday March 17th. It will have 2 showings during the weekend, the 2nd showing will be on March 18th. Tickets for the event are only $8 per person age 12 and up and for kids below 11 years it is $5. The event will play the premiere of Beauty and the Beast as well as have a real life princess Belle on site for photo ops.

Spring Break in San Antonio doesn’t have to be a boring week locked inside. Take part in the Spring Break Activity Week at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, which will be hosting a week-long event for parents and children to enjoy spending time together while also exercising and using their creativity. There will be various animal guests stopping by throughout the week and daily nature walks in the mornings.

With the third month of the year almost coming to an end, the Boynton Beach movers at All My Sons want to know: what better way to celebrate March than with the greenest holiday there is? If you are looking for ways to celebrate, you’ve come to the right place. There are tons of things to do for the week of St. Patrick’s Day in Boynton Beach.

Delray Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival – Head out to Delray Beach for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The festival starts March 10 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and then continues on Saturday, March 11 starting at 11 a.m. Be sure to put on some green and bring the entire family!

Boynton Beach Blarney Bash – Although this St. Patty’s Day event has all things to do with Guinness beer, Boynton Beach movers say it is kid-friendly as well! There will be face painters, balloon artists, and even bounce houses. This event takes place on Friday, March 17 – actual St. Patty’s Day.

Roxy’s St. Patrick’s Day Party – If you and your friends are into block parties, Boynton Beach movers suggest heading over to Roxy’s Rooftop. Being one of the most exciting places to go, you can enjoy drinks with friends all day long on March 17.

Happy Hour at E.R. Bradley’s – Happy hour takes place every Friday from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., and the same goes for St. Patrick’s Day! But Boynton Beach movers say this year will be extra special, with an excess amount of green!

It may seem strange for an Addis moving company to proclaim that spring time is the best time of the year, but if you have just moved to Addis, then you’ll soon understand why. Addis is more than just a little quiet city near the famous Baton Rouge. Addis movers know that there’s much more that the city has to offer.

Our little corner of Louisiana is truly a great place to spend spring time. The first people you’ll interact with are going to be the Addis movers who will be unloading and unpacking all your belongings into your new home. With that in mind, we want to do what no other Addis moving company is doing by offering you and your family a list of the best hot spots in Addis Louisiana this spring.

    Addis Museum

The Addis museum is on the National Register of Historic Places because of the wealth of Addis, L.A.’s history. The museum is located nearby the All My Sons Addis moving company offices and it remains a must see for new comers this spring.

    Poplar Grove Plantation Home

Addis movers love spending time outside during spring time, it’s one of the perks of the job! Spend time outside with your family and visit the Poplar Grove Plantation Home. Much like the Addis Museum, this is a place of great historical significance that preserves the history of Addis as a part of the state of Louisiana.

    Splash Pads

If you’re looking for a way to let the kids blow off some steam after moving to Addis, than all of our Addis movers recommend checking out Splash pads, which is an outdoor park catered to kids.

It’s important that everyone register to vote in Austin after arriving in our great city. Each state has its own laws and rules that govern the process of moving and registering to vote. Cedar Park movers are based in Texas, close to Austin, so we will be focusing on the process to register to vote in Austin.

Remember, moving within Texas and moving long distance frim out of state will change the rules when you register to vote in Austin.

    Moved from Outside of Texas

Cedar park movers would call this long distance moving. If you moved to Cedar park or Austin from outside of Texas, you must register to vote in Austin at least 30 days before the next election process. In Texas, you can register to vote the same day you become a Texas resident.

You will be a resident of Texas after you have moved to Cedar Park, or any other city, and received mail at that address. Simply take that mail to the DMV and change your license.

    Moved within Texas

If you’ve moved from anywhere within the state, then Cedar Park movers would call this a local move. For this, you simply must ensure that you have performed an address change and changed your voter’s registration, both of which can be performed online.

Once you have changed your address within the 30-day time frame, you can register to vote in Austin and then you are eligible to vote in the elections, both on a state and local level. You can find where your polling station is by following the address here: http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/pamphlets/specialearlyvoting.shtml.
