Throughout 2015 and 2016, about $100 million in low-interest debt will be used to pay for the construction and equipment replacement projects for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. The money comes from Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. who bought the general obligation notes at an extremely rare, low interest rate of 2.938% – an interest rate that is so rare, it hasn’t been seen since 1982.

People who are looking to move to Milwaukee can get excited about the many updates the city will be undergoing. The money will be put towards improvements in the Milwaukee area; including: two sewage treatment plants, upgrades of regional sewers, local waterways and flood management projects. Planning each project and paying for the work to be done is also part of the budget. The projects are expected to be completed somewhere between the years of 2020 and 2050. The newly acquired debt (the $100 million) will only be used for projects that cost less than $2 million each.

While the money will help complete a wide variety of projects that have been dire, the district still has to pay back the debt, along with interest within the next 20 years. However, it is expected that other financial investors and insurance companies will purchase the notes. One of the future potential candidates is Bank of American Merrill Lynch, who initially offered the second lowest bid, which was still under 3% interest; hopefully they will still be interested in the upcoming years.

Lawrence Tunnell, former acting city judge for Knoxville, has reason to feel extremely relieved – the city just dropped all assault charges that he received this past November.

The incident involved the former 94-year-old judge; however, now the victim involved in the incident has disappeared. Despite currently not being able to be located, he had already contested that he did not wish to continue on with the prosecution. This was made clear when prosecutor Victoria Walsh gave a statement stating that Smallwood did not wish to proceed further. This is a life-changing announcement for Tunnell, considering he would be facing charges of aggravated assault.

Apparently, the alleged victim, Charles Smallwood, was struck with Tunnell’s car and was knocked to the ground. The incident began because Tunnell had fallen, and Smallwood, along with a couple other by standing witnesses, helped him up and tried to make him stay until the ambulance came to help him. Unfortunately, Tunnell tried to leave anyways, despite the crowd’s attempt to help him. When he began to drive away, Smallwood attempted to stand in front of his car so that he could not go anywhere – which immediately backfired when Tunnell proceeded to hit him with his car.

A surprising incident for the 94-year-old former judge. Luckily he will not have to worry about packing and moving to a new town due to a momentary lapse of judgement.

Movie director Antoine Fuqua is said to be remaking his classic Western “The Magnificent Seven” in Baton Rouge this summer.

This week, rumors were buzzing around town that the director had plans with Sony-MGM for an extended shoot in the capital city of Louisiana, but there was no confirmation – until the project showed up on the state’s list of film and TV projects.

So far, the cast includes Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio and Luke Grimes. The storyline is one of a town that, following the Civil War, hires a bounty hunter and his crew of gunmen to protect the town from a mining baron out for control.

If you are moving to Baton Rouge before May, you can expect to catch some of the action in the capital city for the next two months! Production is set to commence on May 18th and last roughly 64 days.

Director Antoine Fuqua will be producing via a script written by Nic Pizzolatto, “True Detective” author and Louisiana native. However, a suggested rewrite was done by John Lee Hancock, but it has not been released whether or not it will be the new script version for production.

In Jacksonville this week, drivers with overdue traffic tickets hanging over their heads can get a break this weekend at Clerk of Courts offices throughout Northeast Florida. This will also allow overdue traffic ticket holders to pay their tickets, as well as court costs, fines, and fees without having to pay collection agency fees that often add up to a whopping 40 percent. Not only that, but people can also have their suspended licenses reinstated, once the bills have finally been paid (in full).

Duval, Baker, Clay, Columbia, Putnam, St. Johns, and Union county’s clerk of courts will also be open to accept payments on Saturday, April 18th, along with Bradford, Flagler, Nassau and St. Johns County’s offices on April 17th. In fact, most of the 67 county clerk of courts throughout the state of Florida are going to be participating in Operation Green Light.

According to Clay County Clerk Tara Green, Operation Green Light “brings relief to citizens who have incurred overdue fines and fees and helps them drive legally again.”

Yet another reason for those who are skilled at racking up tickets to move to Jacksonville, Duval County Clerk Ronnie Fussell stated that, “by opening on a Saturday, we’re making it convenient for those who need it.”

By waiving statutory collections surcharges, not only will the amount owed be significantly reduced, as long as the payment is made in full in cash, money order or credit card, it will restore a suspended license as long as there are no other issues along the way.

We’ve all been there – you see someone walking in a packed parking lot and immediately tail them in the hopes of finally hunting down a parking spot upon their departure. Luckily, the days of hopelessly driving around for hours playing Russian Roulette in a full parking lot are over; a revolutionary new app is about to make finding parking for the Colorado Rockies’ home opener a whole lot easier.

Another perk for those who have just moved to Denver – multiple parking apps that have recently been introduced to the Denver community, are revolutionizing the way that people find parking. The apps allow drivers to see exactly what spots are available throughout numerous amount of parking spaces in the Denver area. Tons of locals are now getting closer spots than they ever thought possible.

According to Casey Jones, former board member of the International Parking Institute, “there’s really a revolution going on in the parking industry right now, and it starts with the fundamental change in attitude and orientation. We’re in a service industry, and it hasn’t always been looked at that way.”

Apps such as Parking Panda and SpotHero manage over 50 garages combined, while the app CurbStand focuses on finding, paying and tipping valet services within the area.

Jones further attests that, “with the proliferation of smartphones and mobile information that really opened the door for the parking industry to respond to customer needs.” One thing is for certain, with investors putting in $76 million towards parking technologies in 2014 alone, the industry only will continue to keep growing.

Victoria_Texas_watertower2_JD_Hancock30 miles from the Gulf Of Mexico, Victoria Texas is known as “The Crossroads” because of it’s strategic location between Corpus Christi, Houston, San Antonio and Austin. With a population of over 80,000 Victoria is in the Texas High Country in the area called the “The Golden Crescent”.  Its position between the ocean and the grassy prairies was a strong draw for Native American tribes such as the Jaraname, Toncahua, Carancahua, Lipan, and Comanche. From the 17th through 19th centuries Victoria was occupied by the French then the Spaniards. Eventually it became Mexican property after the Mexican revolution and was a key part of Mexico’s attempt to colonize Texas. The city was named after General Guadalupe Victoria, the first post revolutionary president of Mexico. Following Texas’ independence from Mexico the city began to flourish and eventually the city of Victoria was officially founded as the county seat of Victoria County.

The Victoria economy was largely agrarian through the 19th century. Crops such as rice, corn and wheat were grown in great quantities. Cattle ranching was another major part of the economy. Early on the main non-agricultural business was brick making. Everything changed in the 1930′s with the discovery of oil. During the depression growth slowed, but quickly resumed during the Second World War due to demand for oil and the placement of several military bases nearby.

victoria_courthouse_ken_lundToday Victoria is a vibrant modern community that maintains its connection with it’s past. Victoria has several museums and many restored historic buildings. One of the most popular is the Museum Of The Coastal Bend which features exhibits on regional history. The 1892 Victoria Courthouse is considered one the best examples of Texas Gothic architecture. There are plenty of outdoor activities as well including fishing, kayaking and horseback riding. Another popular attraction is The Texas Zoo a 5 1/2 acre facility focusing on Texas wildlife.

Victoria continues to grow. if your future is in this historic city call your friends at All My Sons Moving & Storage and we’ll help you get to “The Crossroads Of The Golden Crescent”.

In recent news, home equity lines of credit are once again becoming popular in Wisconsin due to increasing home prices and home owner confidence – along with consistently low interest rates.

According to Doug Gordon, chief executive of WaterStone Bank, “the biggest factor has been home prices going up rather than going down.”

Offers from places such as Landmark Credit Union, have been offering home equity lines of credit at an introductory annual percentage rate that’s 1.99% and fixed for 18 months. Subsequently, the total amount of equity lines of credit in 2014 in Wisconsin rose 1.9%, to more than $3 billion. This indicates that the adverse effects of the recession and housing market crash from the previous year may be stopping.

Chief executive at Landmark Credit Union, Jay Magulski, added some other reasons to the recent influx of home equity lines of credit, “as an example, someone may say, ‘I have a kitchen I’ve been wanting to remodel and now I’m going to do this,’ it might not even be something as extensive as remodeling a kitchen or adding on to a home. It may be you need to go out and take care of a roof that needs to be replaced.”

Overall, the value of Wisconsin homes rose more than 12% from $132,000 in 2011. Gordon confers that “when (home) prices are going up, they are a little more confident in spending. And obviously, the home equity lines are a perfect way for people to do improvements or buy cars and such because of the deductibility of the interest.”
