  • If you are moving to Birmingham, chances are you will stumble upon local favorite Barton Academy. One of the oldest buildings in the city, Barton Academy is also the oldest public school built in Alabama. Built in 1836, the academy is finally being renovated, along with the JD Yerby School next door.

The school system passed a $3 million renovation plan for the exterior of the academy. As a result, the Barton Academy Foundation is looking to raise an additional $15 million to convert the school into an international school. This is great news for anyone who is looking to move to Alabama from overseas.

Since Barton Academy is an Alabama architectural treasure, Birmingham moving companies hope that the exterior renovations will not hinder the architectural appeal that has been cherished for over 200 years.

Barton Academy has always symbolized the bold moves that Alabama has taken towards education, and locals want to make sure that it still does. If the Barton Academy Foundation does decide to convert the building into an international school, it would continue to hold its legacy as being a leader in education, as the academy plans to create the specialty for grades 6-12. The specialty school would be an academy where students can learn foreign languages and world cultures, as well as “learn to succeed in an interconnected world,” according to their website.

For those moving to West Palm Beach soon, one thing they will not have to worry about is how to lower Everglades pollution.

This year, sugar cane farmers of Lake Okeechobee were able to eliminate three times as much polluting phosphorus than what is required by state officials. In total, the 79% reduction is a sign of the restoration success for the Everglades, according to state officials and agricultural representatives.

Vice president for the Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida, Barbara Miedema, shared that, “we are getting better at what we are doing. We take the Everglades’ restoration very seriously.”

This is great news for those who plan on having West Palm Beach movers settle them into their new home; after all, West Palm Beach locals should be able to bring their families to visit the Everglades without worrying if it will still be there in the future.

Since the Everglades is home to 20 endangered species and drinking water for all of South Florida, water-pollution cleanup requirements are a big part of the multibillion-dollar state and federal effort to protect what remains of the Everglades. West Palm Beach movers will not have to worry about moving new families in who will not be able to enjoy one of Florida’s most important wetlands. In fact, over the past 20 years, the agricultural area of the Everglades (totaling about 500,000 acres) has averaged a 56% reduction.

The drastic reduction in the amount of pollution affecting the Everglades, is due to sugar cane farmers using less fertilizer, cleaning out drainage ditches, using different irrigation practices, and taking steps to curb pollution that drains towards the Everglades.

The South Florida Water Management District board attests that “the results have been outstanding.”

If there is one thing that coffee lovers need to know when moving to Denver, it is that Denver is home to iconic coffee brand Boyer’s Coffee. It may be a slight understatement to say that everyone in Denver knows the brand and uses it as their coffee of choice. Now, locals can find their favorite coffee brand at Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company.

Luna Gourmet Coffee & Tea Company has recently acquired the Boyer’s Coffee Brand, buildings, assets and land.

Jason and Douglass Barrow are the owners of Luna Gourmet, and they describe Boyer’s Coffee as “a slice of Americana, in terms of what coffee is. They were roasting coffee there in the early ‘70s. And, before that, Bill was roasting out of his garage.” As for Boyer’s Coffee being American coffee at its finest, Denver movers would have to agree.

The Bill that they refer to is Bill Boyer, of course. Bill Boyer worked hard to carefully safeguard the secret to his coffee beans and roasting process, and the Boyer brand is celebrating over 50 years of being a coffee tradition in the heart of Denver.

After your move to Denver, you can find Boyer’s Coffee at Taco John’s, King Soopers, City Market, Safeway, Sam’s Club and Walmart.

Getting a thorough home inspection is a critical step in the Raleigh home buying process. It is necessary to have your potential Raleigh home inspected to make sure that your new home is a sound investment and a safe place to live. Many home buyers do not know what it means to get an inspection, what fully happens during an inspection, or what they should be looking for to get the most out of an inspection. Local Raleigh movers have done some research and found out what inspectors say are the five biggest mistakes that home buyers make during an inspection.

    1. Inspectors say that a lot of home owners neglect to get a new construction inspected, since they presumed that the home has already passed all of the codes and ordinances that it should in order to be sold.

    2. Opting out for a cheaper or recommended inspector instead of researching Raleigh inspectors themselves. Much like choosing a local Raleigh mover, home buyers should choose an inspector who is competent, thorough, and trustworthy. Ask for licensing, professional affiliations, and credentials.

    3. Not going along on the inspection. Written reports from inspectors won’t give Raleigh homebuyers as clear of a picture as it would if they had been present during the inspection themselves. Minor problems can be over-emphasized and big problems can go unnoticed.

    4. Ignoring the inspector’s recommendations and not following up. Before the Raleigh home reaches a closing date, homebuyers won’t follow up on the issues discovered in the inspection when they should acquire several estimates for fixing the issues, before their closing date.

    5. Raleigh moving companies want new residents to be aware of the fact that no matter how much experience an inspector has, they cannot predict the future. It is important to follow up with experts related to a specific system.

In 2013, four prominent economists from Harvard and Berkeley named Salt Lake City one of the best places in the country for upward mobility. Researchers found that Salt Lake City low-income kids thrive. Those kids who were from low-income families, had some of the greatest chances of moving up the income ladder as they got older. Salt Lake City with its 180,000 residents, shares this admirable distinction with major coastal cities such as New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, and San Diego, making it an ideal moving destination. The results created significant buzz in academic, economic, and urban-planning circles for its finding that people’s choices in hometown can profoundly affect their children’s economic future.

Salt Lake City officials acclaimed that the study showed even more evidence that the Salt Lake City area has a high quality of life, alongside a low unemployment rate. To maintain Salt Lake City’s status as an “American Dream” model, Salt Lake City government officials and civic leaders are pursuing various strategic strategies in Salt Lake City’s schools and Salt Lake City neighborhoods in order to continue to give lower-income children a significant boost up the economic ladder. If you are moving to Salt Lake City, local movers have learned that sometimes lower-income families who move to flourishing areas, give their children the opportunity to flourish later on in life.

Salt Lake City movers stand by the fact that the city has two major strengths that make it one of the best cities in the United States for economic upward growth: a strong middle class and a smaller gap between the wealthy and poorer classes. The Harvard and Berkeley economists’ study identified the five factors that help increase economic mobility, which are less economic segregation, good public school systems, strong family stability, a social safety net, and less income inequality.
