  • Emory Point, a mixed-use development project that would house 442 apartments and 80,000 square feet of retail space, was stopped in its tracks from construction several years ago due to the recession. Now, the $250 million project is getting a second wind, according to Gables Residential. It seems that the residential and commercial industries are gaining steam again and now could be a perfect time to get the project underway.

Over the next few months, the Atlanta movers will be keeping an eye on the Emory Point project and news that arises regarding its development and progress. Remember, if you’re looking to move to the Atlanta area, contact your family-friendly movers at All My Sons of Atlanta, where we have been helping people just like YOU move for four generations.

The amount of available homes in Kansas City grew in June, according to the Kansas City Association of Realtors. Compared to June 2010, home sales were down by 38%, and while reasons are speculating, a big likelihood involves the tax credit for home buyers that was in affect last year.

Though the numbers are down from 2010, the Kansas City movers are excited to share that the numbers for June are up 11% from May. Hopefully, the trend continues and the market picks up again–for the sake of realtors, sellers, and everyone involved in the moving process, such as your friendly Kansas City movers here at All My Sons.

The average price for a new Kansas City area home was $302,758, which is a 2% increase from last year. Subsequently, existing home sales dropped 2% to $163,125.

Everywhere in the world, people are becoming more and more concerned about green living, eco-friendliness, and clean energy. This week, those global concerns are coming home to us here in Raleigh. This week’s “Plug-In 2011″ is a clean-energy technology summit that is bringing clean energy experts and aficionados to Raleigh.

The Raleigh movers already know, and we’re sure you do too, that North Carolina is very supportive of clean energy. In fact, clean energy companies get tax credit incentives here in North Carolina. The upside for the rest of the nation is that these North Carolina companies now have the ability to expand into other markets across the country, subsequently creating jobs for more Americans.

The Plug-In event is closed to the public, however, there will be a viewing this evening from 5pm-10pm of the latest electric cars. Also included in tonight’s events is a screening of the film “Revenge of the Electric Car,” included in the $10 admission.

    Think Green!

In what seems to be an end to all the discussion on food trucks, it seems that the Raleigh City Council is opening up to the idea of allowing food trucks–under a few conditions. Certain requirements will be in place for the food vendors. The Raleigh movers love the idea–what an easy way to grab a quick bite and support local vendors. Also, food trucks get the city’s residents outdoors again.

One of the large concerns is congestion. The City doesn’t want a bunch of mobile food courts clustering around popular business areas, which has become the case in other cities. With this in mind, one of the ordinances states that only one food truck is permitted within each half-acre radius.

While food trucks have become quite the rage throughout the country, it’s inevitable that they pull business away from established restaurants and shops in their respected cities. Due to this, the restaurant proprietors in Raleigh are against allowing food trucks–stating that it is unfair to the rent-paying restaurants. Regulations may be put into place that monitor how close the food trucks can be to restaurants, and also considering operating taxes to try to even out with the fees restaurants pay, such as property tax.
